Deepavali weekend+funny scare
Spent the Deepavali holiday here in Kedah instead of back home in KL this year… Why you ask?? Coz I thought that my external hard disk was spoilt and wanted to get a new one at the PC Fair here at Village Mall… Turned out, God was so awesome that He healed an inanimate object for me… LOL!!! It’s totally cured just like that though one computer dude said it was beyond the point of no repair.. (Dunno whether that guy was totally inefficient or I sighted a plain miracle at work, lol…) But my parents were like “Whether miracle or otherwise, you could have gotten a new one from Low Yat Plaza here you know??” Well, that’s true but I wanted to stay here to strengthen myself… In a setting filled with family love and unconditional care, one wouldn’t grow strong.. And in a situation like the one I’m having now (to those who knows), I need to be tougher, to be able to face certain stuffs alone… But I sincerely thank my family so much for all that they did and I’m sure will continue doing, I LOVE YOU ALL!!! Plus the many true friends I can trust after sieving through my pile of friends-- Thank you!! So, there you have it, my somewhat logical explanation on why I’m not back home…
Anyway, because of that, I experienced a REALLY funny incident yesterday.. TNB had to do some maintanence work yesterday to upgrade our campus’ electrical supply so we were to literally live in the dark from 10am-10pm… Since they cut off the supply at 9.30am, my roommate and I plus Claud next door went out for lunch to escape the heat.. Then we headed off to Village Mall to do some shopping, which we couldn’t do much due to the lack of shops and even tea-time at Secret Recipe, we had to go home at 5.30pm, assuming that the electricity would be back by then… Well, the whole place was still dark til 7pm… Cut the story short, we decided to go out again for dinner and to buy candles in case we’ll be left in the dark for long…. As we were walking down the stairs, the fire alarm suddenly went off and was shrieking as loud as it could.. Since the place was desolate, the neverending alarm was quite scary.. As we proceeded to my car equipped with torchlights in our hands, lo and behold, we saw two huge red trucks in the carpark easing in our hostel… With the fire alarm blazing its head off, one would think those were the fire trucks right?? So, I got freaked out when I drove out and called my dad.. Daddy thinks I should give a call to the TNB hotline to find out what happened so well, here goes…
TNB staff: What is the problem, miss?
Me: Well, our university is still dark now after 12 hours.. When will the electricity be back on?
TNB staff: You mean your university has no electricity?
Me: Yes, the whole campus.
TNB staff: Well, sorry but we are not responsible for power failure inside a university. You would have to call a wireman.
Me: No!! I meant it was a TNB upgrading project that caused the breakdown.
TNB staff: Yes, I understand but like I said, we are not responsible for the electrical malfunction inside a university.
Me: But this is due to your project!!
TNB staff: Yes, but we are not responsible for it. Better call a wireman, miss.
Me: .. You don’t understand!! …..But… *exasperated* Fine, never mind, then can I know what happened that there’s fire trucks parked in our parking lots then?
TNB staff: In your campus?
Me: Yes, in my campus.
TNB staff: Well, you’d have to call a wireman to find out.
Me: WHAT?? A wireman is responsible for fire trucks now?
TNB staff: Yes, we are not responsible. Better call a wireman, miss.
Me: Call a wireman to see why are there fire trucks in my campus, after the electrical breakdown, which was due to a TNB upgrading project?
TNB staff: Yes, call a wireman, miss. We are not responsible to electrical breakdown inside a university campus.
Me: ……………..*speechless* Yeah well, thanks for your help, k?
*Clicks*
Me thinking.. ‘or no help at all… And… what is a wireman in the first place???!!!”
Totally bizarre irrelevant conversation between two confused souls, lol…
In the end, we found out that the two blazing red hot trucks were the generator trucks that were called in to temporarily supply electricity until TNB were done with their work. Which was 1am coz the power got cut for 10 minutes again and we happily lit up the newly bought candles for well, 10 minutes… Lol… I’m so glad I didn’t make a big fuss about the “fire trucks”.. Imagine me going, “I DON’T CARE!! GET YOUR BOSS ON THE LINE TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE HECK IS THERE FIRE TRUCK INVOLVED IN A BLACKOUT SITUATION RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” And that the person really did call the fire department to see whether trucks are sent into our campus.. That, my friends, would be totally EMBARRASSING to say the least!!! Hahahahahahaha…. All in all, I had a fun weekend… Spent a lot but learnt a lot too… Till next time, adieu!!

International Kabbadi competition, Lantern Fest 09’
To start off quite an interesting week, let me show you how our university looks like when there’s big shots around =p It was all for show for the international congregates that came for the International Youth Kabaddi Competition 09’. Do I hear you asking “What the heck’s Kabbadi??” Well, let me tell you honestly that I didn’t even know this thing existed until well, I heard that some apparently cute hunks are in the competition as well… *Gush*.. haha, just kidding!!!! Anyways, it’s like a combination of 老鹰捉小鸡 plus ‘Pepsi Cola’… A somewhat more aggressive form of those two but you’ll get a vague idea of how it’s played… For those that do not read Chinese or had never heard of a game called after two fizzy drinks, then I guess…. TOO BAD!!!!! Lol, I don’t know how to explain those games so please kindly just skip thru that part and surge on the never-ending droning words ok? (And I know you only look at the pictures mostly anyway don’tcha? =p)
Every tree around the Great Hall’s lighted up…
*Great Hall-sounds so Harry Potter…cue some Harry Potter spooky music….*
*Oh wait, our Great Hall’s not so great… No floating candles, no talking hat, no magically appearing food….*
*And I’d skip the food, most probably it’ll be from Jaya Catering, and THAT my friends, you cannot magically memper-tasty-kan…*
The Great Hall & other offices are located in this Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka lookalike building…
The blueish tinge to the building is so not to my liking.. Seems very sickish to me… lol…
On another note, we just had a Lantern Festival celebration in our university which was a success I think considering the huge crowd turnout and the all sold record for some drinks we had… Hope everyone had fun coz I did!!
Sylvia looking nice in her kimono and me looking well, me-like…. lol…

Oh, and I really liked our senior’s booth… They really put in lotsa effort for the backdrop for the photo-taking session… Good job!!

View on my nation
The thing that got me thinking bout our country more in depth is actually triggered by an event that happened over in Korea regarding a Korean idol which hailed from another country (Yes, SX, I’m writing this after your comment).. Anyways, that poor guy went to Korea to fulfil his dreams a few years ago, all alone, without any friends, family members to support him and a whole list of things he is forced to adapt to almost immediately.. e.g. Their language, food, customs, cultures, etc etc… After being deprived of much love and cafe, he made a mistake by writing about his frustrations to his friend through the net… (Hence it should have been private and personal ppl!! Sheesh…) Anyway, the Koreans are fuming right now over the things he said FOUR years ago and are isolating him NOW.. (Boycotting, banning, or whatever else that sounds nice to your ears…) I think it’s immature of them to do so and plain unfair.. It’s not like you never did or said anything that you’ll regret ever before and yet he was judged.. Just like that… Even after a public apology, he is not let off the hook… Give him a break ppl… And from what I know, what he wrote is not even that bad… Just some boyish longings for his home…
That being said, it’s easy to point fingers huh?? And yet look at the state of our country right now.. We were known as the friendliest Asian country once and just glance through the headlines of any national papers today.. Racial disunity, political unrest, crisis, crimes rate going up etc etc etc.. And how about the simple thing of sugar shortage?? I dunno how you feel but I for one just think it shouldn’t happen.. True, it’s a good time for us to learn not to consume so much of sugar and yet somehow I feel like it’s cause of everyone getting so scared that they’ll never have sweet taste on their tongues that they rushed out and bought the whole mini-mart near them out of sugar… Or the ever changing forums on whether to teach this or that in this language or that.. The funny thing is, you can almost guess someone’s age by the medium they were taught in.. Like those from the 50s will be English educated, those from the 60s will be in Malay medium schools… Nowadays, you can guess the year someone graduated from as it just keeps changing over time… Then there’s concerts that kept on getting cancelled.. Or on the alcohol issue… I think it’s a good time to start praying for our nation… To pray that we would be more tolerant to each other, to be more just in our decision making especially for those in that position, to be more transparent and honest in our dealings, to be more far-sighted and think about the future of our nation and not just temporary personal gain…
I’ve also learnt this from CF yesterday.. You know how we always introduce ourselves as so & so from ________ normally?? I’ve noticed that (We don’t even do it consciously sometimes) we personally tend to support those from the same states more… Just like how you’ll be more tolerant and forgiving to the same race or religion… And that you’ll be more critical towards those that are not… Until someone said, I’m _______ from Malaysia.. lol… Talk about 1Malaysia!! It’s simple stuffs like this that makes one patriotic… Not how many times you talk about how you will sacrifice your life for the country or how good if _______ or ______ changes or how you dislike _______ or how other places are so much better…. Being patriotic is to defend your country’s good name, and not only so, to uphold its name… It’s easy to defend something as you don’t need to waste any effort or discipline, I mean, how hard is it to just pay lip service?? But to truly love and hope for the best of the nation?? That’s a whole new level.. I’m one who believes that everything happens for a reason and that we’re not accidentally here …. So for now, at this moment, I love my country and will pray for its development, peace and security… What’s your take???
PS If you know who’s the Korean artist I’m talking about, do leave me a comment, I would LOVE to hear what do you think about the whole thing because I so like him a lot!! XD

Super food galore-Milwaukee steak corner & b’day at Secret Recipe
As promised, an update.. Or more accurately, an update of a gallery of pictures on food and food and more glorious food, lol….
Anyway, to satisfy my craving for western food, my parents so lovingly brought all of us out one night… This was once my favourite place for American style steaks but now I’m just plain disappointed… It’s near Sungai Long, which is really far from Ampang but well worth it the 3 times we went before this.. Now, I wouldn’t even anticipate going there anymore… Sigh, another eatery down… The food was nice I guess but not as nice as the previous visits.. The price has all gone up expectedly but the quality does not live up to the price hike.. Sigh.. And the service is well, he…he…he…I’ll refrain from any wisecrack comments…
It’s a building all by itself with air-conditioned floors with WiFi provided upstairs…
The interior of the place… I missed the Harley Davidson feel it once gave.. Now it’s just plain old boring… I think certain religious group went there accidentally and started bleeding from the nose looking at posters of half-nude women on big bikes and demanded they tone down a bit.. (While taking the posters home as evidence or something.. Sheesh…)
Caesar salad…
Beef burger
Charbroiled ostrich steak, medium rare.. I don’t like this=<
House special charbroiled sirloin steak…
Steamed cod fish with baked cheese on top…
Tempura seafood platter…
I totally forgot what this is called again…whoops…
Conclusion is, the place is quite nice, spacious and the food is reasonably priced (The six of us ate for say around RM 210 excluding taxes) but it just couldn’t stay on top of my list for its category anymore… Such a pity… I never minded its distance from my house and now it just made itself off my list..
Anyway, just a quick post for the person whose birthday we celebrated for, you know who you are..
Failed project of writing this ourselves on the durian cheese cake… The coconut flakes on top is just . . . . The result as you can see is. . . HAHA!!
Japanese soba noodles and Vietnamese chicken chop rice?
Lamb rack with potato
Meatball spaghetti with peach orange milkshake….
Why did I include these photos are coz I’ll give credit to SR for being able to cook nice food in a short time… =p We reached there around 9.45pm and by the time all our orders were taken and the cake written on it’s 10pm and the shop was supposed to close at 10.30pm… (Oh oh….??) But I thoroughly enjoyed all the food there, always had a knack for SR’s food, cakes, drinks and pastries… Aww, the joy….
All in all, I had a great time back home and can’t wait to be back once more… Love all the hustle and bustle, the pollution, traffic jams, people, cars and high-rise building… Miss you already, dear KL!!!
PS As requested, a SeReNe style loud shout out to my awesome roommate, WP!!!! I KNOW we’ll have a blast!!! Much love… XOXOXO

I am
“My action does not define me, it doesn’t show you who I am. My thoughts does not represent me, it doesn’t speak of how I am and could be. My words do not shape me, they are not the correct front I should be judged upon. These are all part of who I am, but they do not define me.”-SeReNe Lee
Anyways ppl, I’m thinking of starting a whole new concept for this blog… Not a bitchy one you think I’m capable of, not an emo blog, though I wouldn’t mind writing some emo posts whenever I feel like it and then delete it, as QP and WP would have known (for they read one barely in time before I deleted it from the blog-o-sphere, lol..) Not a travel blog coz obviously I dun have time in my hands to just leave everything and take off so to speak.. not another fashion blog simply because I dun want the fashion polices to moan and cry over my fashion mismatch crime(S)… Not a tech guide blog too since no one is sparing me the gadgets to review upon and I cannot afford to buy new stuffs all the time.. Not a cooking blog since I only have let’s see, a fridge and a microwave oven in the hostel? Not a pets-&-you or a parents-teenagers forum blog coz well, just coz.. Which would lead me to… erm, not much choice is there?? Lol… Oh wells, just so it’s clear, I’m back again… Hopefully you guys will catch on with what is my new concept.. which is mainly concept-less I guess… Just the same-ol’ dose of SeReNeness with a whole new SeReNe at helm… Enjoy the ride with me alrights??
PS I love all of you guys who had cared enough to ask… Special shout-outs to J, WP, QP, Suan, Ce, Rick, and all…XOXOXOXO

Who I am in God
My finals’ will finally be final in less than a day’s time. Throughout all these, I just wanna thank God for everything.. Thank God for all the joys, the pain, the tears, the friendships, the time spent, the effort put, the good times’ out, the birthdays celebrated.. When the right time comes, I shall blog about all but for now, I just wanna stay still and strong in God. In Him I place my trust. He shall be my strength when I am weak, my fortress in times of trouble.. Let my walk be just from now on, change me, mould me, make me better in You, Lord, Amen.. I’ll learn to be who You want me to be and to search for that identity in Christ, being unshaken and strong, knowing that I’m a precious child of God…
